T1. Rheological Control
The flow of soft materials is paramount to their end-use properties and also to their processability. We are working to establish design principles governing: the extrusion and co-extrusion of pastes; the flow of 'active' suspensions containing self-propelled components; the rheology of aspherical and polydisperse colloidal suspensions; the rheology of protein gels and soft-solid emulsions. Additionally, we are addressing the rheology of liquid crystals and their composites, both in bulk flows and in confined and/or device geometries.
